Abstract
This thesis discusses the position of translators when it comes to authorship and copyright. The theoretical framework provides a historical and contemporary overview of their subordinated status and compares them with original writers in terms of advantages such as fame, earnings and recognition, as well as in terms of originality, authenticity and creativity. The main focus is on Lawrence Venuti’s concepts of domestication and foreignization, the translator’s (in)visibility and illusion, and... More their connection with authorship. Also, the thesis deals with the matter of ethics in translation, i.e. it discusses how to protect rights of both translators and writers. Abstract (croatian)
Ovaj diplomski rad bavi se pitanjem položaja prevoditelja kada se radi o autorstvu i autorskim pravima. Teorijski okvir nudi povijesni i suvremeni pregled podređenosti prevoditelja i uspoređuje ih s autorima izvornika u odnosu na prednosti kao što su slava, novac i priznanje, ali i u odnosu na originalnost, autentičnost i kreativnost. Glavne točke rada su koncepti podomaćivanja, postranjivanja, prevoditeljske (ne)vidljivosti i iluzije Lawrencea Venutija te njihova povezanost s autorstvom.... More Nadalje, rad se bavi i pitanjem etike u prijevodu, odnosno pitanjem zaštite prava i prevoditelja i pisaca.
