Sažetak
Tourism, one of the fastest growing industries, is being accompanied by significant technological advancements. This study aims to investigate multilingual practices in digital communication with clients of the hotel and catering industry in the Region of Istria. Moreover, the goal was to attempt to provide insight into the differences between large establishments and small privately run ones, as well as an insight into their websites in order to determine whether the individual languages on the websites are adequate for certain facilities. The qualitative method of a semi-structured interview was used to examine seven participants and the research found no significant differences between large and small institutions, except for one related to the languages on the web pages. Furthermore, data analysis revealed that participants working in hotels, camps, and tourist agencies must adhere to the language policy, even if this is not always possible. In order to obtain higher quality and better results for future research, it is critical to include more participants from other parts of the catering industry, as they were in smaller numbers in this study. In that case, it is reasonable to expect a few additional distinctions that were unfortunately not as noticeable here.

Turizam, jednu od najbžţe rastućih industrija, prati značajan tehnološki napredak. Ovo istraživanje ima za cilj istražiti višejezične prakse u digitalnoj komunikaciji s klijentima u hotelijerstvu i ugostiteljstvu u Istarskoj županiji. Također, cilj je bio pokušati dati uvid u razlike između velikih objekata i malih privatno vođenih objekata, kao i uvid u njihove web stranice kako bi se utvrdilo jesu li pojedini jezici na web stranicama dovoljni za pojedine objekte. Kvalitativnom metodom polustrukturiranog intervjua ispitano je sedam sudionika, a istraživanje nije pokazalo značajne razlike između velikih i malih institucija, osim jedne koja se odnosi na jezike na web stranicama. Nadalje, analiza podataka pokazala je da se sudionici koji rade u hotelima, kampovima i turističkim agencijama moraju pridržavati jezične politike, čak i ako to nije uvijek moguće. Kako bi se dobili kvalitetniji i bolji rezultati za buduća istraživanja, ključno je uključiti što veći broj sudionika iz drugih dijelova ugostiteljstva, jer ih je u ovom istraživanju bilo u manjem broju. U tom slučaju, razumno je očekivati nekoliko dodatnih razlika koje ovdje nažalost nisu bile toliko uočljive.
