Most of the world's languages come into contact with each other, thus establishing linguistic contacts. The process of borrowing words from one language to another is a natural and necessary phenomenon in every language. This gradute thesis is devoted to the study of French loanwords, i.e., Galicianisms in the Russian language. Our aim is to examine the frequency of Galicianisms and the degree of presence of French loanwords in contemporary Russian, both in everyday and in the scientific, journalistic, and literary style of the language. In addition to a more detailed explanation of the process of borrowing Galicianisms in the Russian language, we also showed how loanwords adapt to the language at different language levels: phonological, orthographic, morphological and semantic level. On concrete examples we have shown the adaptation of words at all levels and thus come to the general features of French loanwords in the Russian language. Thanks to Galicianisms, but also to other loanwords, the Russian language was additionally lexically enriched, and a large number of loanwords became an inevitable part of the modern Russian language system with their phonological, morphological and semantic adaptation.
