The motive of the fairy has been known from folk traditions, and was later taken in the works of Croatian writers. The fairies are most often described as a young girls with long hair, dressed in white robes, who live far away from people. Zadar Renaissance period was marked with the conquests of the Zadar and it's county, and this period was very difficult for the Croatian identity, language and culture. However, during this period, in Zadar lived and worked writers who, through their literary works, sought to raise awareness of the Croatian people, and point out the importance of Croatian culture and tradition.
