This final thesis discusses the play Leda written by Miroslav Krleža, which belongs to the psychological phase of his dramatic work. In addition to Leda, in the thesis are also mentioned the other two plays of the "Glembay cycle": In Agony and The Glembaj Family, with which Leda is faithfully connected, but also separated with the setting (time) of dramatic action and the choice of the main characters. This thesis encompasses traditionalist and contemporary approach to the play based on various criticisms. It also discusses the genre of the play by explaining the subtitle Comedy of a carnival night. Under the influence of scenic realism, characters of the play are interpreted in the thesis on the basis of the new theory in the study of the character by Philippe Hamon, which he presents in the study For a Semiological Status of the Character. What is also mentioned is the recent division of the characters by Velimir Visković on the basis of Frye's theory of modus. By presenting different approaches to reading of the play Leda, her actuality regardless of the ruling ideology of certain social and political periods is proven, and closely connected with it the frequency of its performance in many well-known theaters.
