L’oggetto della presente tesi di laurea era l`interpretazione dellʹopera postmoderna Il nome della rosa. La tesi ha compreso una descrizione della letteratura italiana postmoderna e il suo sviluppo durante gli anni. All`inizio ho spiegato brevemente il sviluppo dell` età del postmodernismo e una differenza tra il postmodernismo mimetico e retorico. Dopo le parole introduttive, ho dato una parafrasi dell`autobiografia di Umberto Eco e dell’opera Il nome dela rosa. Il romanzo è molto intrigante e un po` confusivo. Dopo aver completato l'analisi della opera e dei personaggi principali, ho detto qualcosa di metanarrazione, intertestualità, autoreferenzialità. Con l`interpretazione e le citazioni, cercavo di presentare un romanzo criminalistico o quello che nella letteratura italiana si chiama letteratura gialla, intrecciato con le correnti storiche, filosofiche e teologiche di quel tempo. Da una parte c`era presente la povertà di Dio e dall` altra un ereticismo e bestemmia. Un romanzo che è semplicemente indescrivibile, che tiene il lettore in fiato sospeso fino all`ultima pagina. Dopo aver analizzato l`opera e una descrizione dei personaggi principali Guglielmo, Adson e Jorge, ho detto qualcosa dell` ambiente e l'inquisizione in quel tempo, della filosofia e teologia, e dello stile.

For the main topic of this thesis I have chosen the novel of writer from the period of the Italian postmodern literature; Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose .The work encompasses a description of the whole of the Italian postmodern literature and its development over the years. At the beginning I gave a brief description of the term postmodernism, the meaning of the name and the period of its use, as well as the difference between mimetic and rhetorical postmodernism. After a few introductory remarks, I continued with the biography of Umberto Eco and his novel The Name of the Rose which is really an intriguing, confusing novel.. After completing the analysis of the novel and its main characters, I turn my attention to literary-artistic styles such as: metanarrative, intertextuality, auto-referencing and so on... Through the interpretation of what I have read as well as the citations that I have provided, I try to provide a realistic picture of my understanding of this crime novel, or a type of novel that would be called letteratura gialla in Italian; a novel crisscrossed with philosophical, historical, and theological questions of the period on one side marked with poverty, and on the other with blasphemy and heretical loan sharking. The Name of the Rose is a novel that is simply indescribable, that keeps the tension until the very end; a thriller that leaves no one indifferent. After the analysis of the novel and the description of its main characters; Guglielmo da Baskerville, Adso da Melk and Jorge da Burgos I refer to the ambient and the church's inquisition of that age, theology and philosophy, and about the style in which the novel takes place.
