OBJECTIVE: 1) To show the clinical picture, epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment of salmonella patients; 2) Show the health care process of salmonella. INTRODUCTION: Salmonella is a gram negative microorganism that is become an increasingly public health problem. There are more serotypes and about them and other factors depend their clinical factors. It can be transmitted through food, animal, and man-tohuman. The characteristic trias of symptoms is vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain. Diagnosis is based on a clinical picture and is treated by rehydration, diet while antibiotics are not recommended. (2) DISCUSSION: To prevent the occurrence of illness, certain preventive measures are used, such as hygiene, careful use of foods and avoidance of raw foods. Insulation measures are also used to prevent the spread of infection. The role of a nurse is an evaluation of patient, and the implementation of prescribed nursing intervetions. CONCLUSION: The nurse must possess the level of knowledge for the care of patients with salmonella, and according to the competences, she must know the clinical picture, epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment. The nurse must carry out prescribed nursing interventions prescribed by the health care plan as well as interventions related to the treating order.
