Sažetak
Le thème de ce mémoire de Master II est la mythologie celte dans Le Roman de Tristan de Béroul et dans celui de Thomas d'Angleterre. Le mémoire commence par une introduction à la mythologie en général, suivie d’une introduction à la mythologie celte. Les deux romans en vers sur Tristan et Yseut se présentent en fragments dispersés et incomplets que l'on date généralement du dernier tiers du XIIe siècle. Nous avons résumé la trame narrative du roman de Béroul et celui de Thomas. Les deux romans ont des motifs de la mythologie celte que nous avons relevés et expliqués en nous appuyant notamment sur des recherches de Philippe Walter. Ces motifs sont présents à la fois dans la trame narrative - comme celui du vin herbé ou celui de la navigation maritime d’une île éloignée, l’image de l’Autre monde celte-, ou bien dans la représentations des héros (Tristan et Yseut) et des personnages secondaires, comme le nain Froncin, l’ermite Ogrin ou le roi Marc aux oreilles du cheval. Dans la seconde partie de notre mémoire de Master II, nous avons traduit le premier chapitre de l’ouvrage de Phillipe Walter, Tristan et Yseut, Le porcher et la truie.
Sažetak (hrvatski)
Tema ovog diplomskog rada je keltska mitologija u Béroulovoj i Thomasovoj verziji Romana o Tristanu. Rad započinje definicijom termina mitologija i kraćim uvodom o mitologiji općenito, nakon čega slijedi uvod o keltskoj mitologiji i njezinim karakteristikama. Dva starofrancuska romana u stihovima koji pripovijedaju legendu o Tristanu i Izoldi sačuvana u raspršenim i nepotpunim fragmentima potječu iz zadnje trećine XII. stoljeća. Ukratko je ispričan sažetak i Béroulovog i Thomasovog romana. Oba romana sadržavaju motive keltske mitologije, kako u narativnoj potki, poput ispijanja ljubavnog napitka i dugog putovanja lađom s dalekog otoka, tako i u samom prikazivanju likova Tristana, Izolde, kralja Marka, patuljka Froncina i pustinjka Ogrina. Ti su motivi pronađeni objašnjeni i prikazani na primjerima iz samih romana. Na kraju se nalazi prijevod prvih poglavlja djela Phillipea Waltera, Tristan i Yseut, Le porcher et la truie [Tristan i Izolda. Svinjar i krmača].

The theme of this Master thesis is Celtic mythology in Béroul's and Thomas' novels in verse The Romance of Tristan. The thesis begins with an introduction to mythology in general, followed by an introduction to Celtic mythology and its characteristics. French verses about Tristan and Isolde appear in scattered and incomplete fragments dating from the last third of the XII century. A summary of both Béroul's and Thomas' novels is briefly told. Both novels have motifs of Celtic mythology in the elements of their narrative plot, such as the herbal wine, and the navigation from the far away island, image of Celtic Other wold. Celtic motives are also to be found in the representation of the main characters of Tristan and Isolde, as well as the secondary ones, such as the dwarf Froncin, the king Marc and the hermit Ogrin. These motifs are explained and documented. The second part of our Master II thesis is our translation of the first chapters of the book by Phillipe Walter, Tristan and Iseut, Le porcher et la truie [we translate: Tristan and Iseult. The Swineherd and the pig].
