Abstract
The thesis deals with similarities and differences that occur in the process of translation of theatrical works. The focus is on elements of register, style, tone, and context and their functioning in the target culture if they are changed in the process of translation. The changes that occur and the way in which they affect the fluency of the plot or development of characters are analyzed in five theatrical works. The works are as follows, David Grieg’s Yellow Moon, John Retallack’s Hannah and Hanna, Dennis Kelly’s DNA, Patrick Marber’s Closer and Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, and their respective translations.
Abstract (croatian)
Rad se bavi sličnostima i razlikama koje se pojavljuju u procesu prevođenja dramskih djela. Fokus je na elementima registra, stila, tona i konteksta te njihovom funkcioniranju u kulturi primateljici, odnosno promjenama u procesu prevođenja. Promjene koje se pojavljuju i način na koji one utječu na tijek radnje i razvoj likova analizirane su u pet dramskih djela. Ta djela su Žuti mjesec Davida Griega, Hannah i Hanna Johna Retallacka, DNA Dennisa Kellyja, Bliže Patricka Marbera i Tko se boji Virginije Woolf? Edwarda Albeeja.
