Abstract
The aim of this BA thesis Perceptions of Madness in Bram Stoker's ''Dracula'' is to compare perceptions of madness as presented in the novel with attitudes towards madness in the late 19th century. The BA thesis consists of seven separate chapters, each of them dealing with different factors that contributed to the general understandings of madness. Chapter 1 is introductory and defines the importance of madness as a theme and states main aim of the BA thesis. Chapter 2 offers insight into... More general position and attitudes about madness in the late 19th century. Chapter 3 deals with analysis of the doctor patient relationship relevant to the novel. Chapter 4 compares madness and vampirisam as a similar state in the context of the novel. Chapter 5 offers insight into the role of shifting gender norms in creating different attitudes towards madness. Chapter 6 deals with the spatial perspective of the madness as presented in the novel. Conclusions are drawn in Chapter 7 where is stated that the main aim of this BA thesis has been reached. Less

Glavi cilj završnog rada pod naslovom Percepcije ludila u Bram Stokerovoj „Drakuli“ je usporediti viđenje ludila prikazanog u romanu sa općenitim stavovima o ludilu u društvu kasnog devetnaestog stoljeća. Ovaj se završni rad sastoji od sedam zasebnih poglavlja u kojima se raspravlja o različitim faktorima koji su doprinijeli formiranju generalnog shvaćanja pojma ludila. Prvo poglavlje je uvod, definira važnost ludila kao teme u romanu i zacrtava glavni cilj završnog rada. Drugo poglavlje... More pruža uvid u općeniti položaj ludila i odnose prema ludilu u kasnom devetnaestom stoljeću. Treće poglavlje se sastoji od analize odnosa doktora i pacijenta koji je relevantan za ovaj roman. Četvrto poglavlje je usporedba ludila i vampirizma koji su prikazani kao slična stanja u kontekstu roman. Peto poglavlje pruža uvid u ulogu koju je imalo mijenjanje rodih norma u stvaranju različitih odnosa prema ludilu. Šesto poglavlje je posvećeno prostornoj dimenziji koja se veže uz ludilo u romanu.
