... More neprijatelji štetočina te feromoni. Abstract (english) Pesticides are substances intended for controlling pests in agriculture such as various microorganisms, insects, weeds, mites, slugs, and others. They are defined as agents used for plant protection, general use agents such as agents for controlling vermin, agents for communal hygiene, agents for protecting agricultural products in storage or for controlling rodents in agricultural facilities, and all agents for plant protection in organic production, natural enemies of pests, and
... More pheromones. In a narrower sense, they are defined as plant protection products that are distinguished by purpose and method of application. The most common classification of pesticides is according to the type of organisms they act on, namely: insecticides, acaricides, nematicides, molluscicides, rodenticides, larvicides, fungicides, herbicides, and subtypes physiotropes and phytohormones. All these agents can be labeled as: highly toxic, toxic or harmful, corrosive, irritant, allergenic, carcinogenic, mutagenic, and reproductively toxic. Hazardous chemicals for health may also be labeled as flammable, oxidizing, and explosive, although pesticides rarely have such properties. During the use of pesticides, appropriate protective clothing and footwear should be used. Proper preparation and handling of foods treated with pesticides can help reduce potential harm to human health. In our country, as well as in other European Union member states, there is a regulatory body that oversees food safety, prescribes standards, and controls products available on the market. Standards usually include maximum allowable concentrations of pesticides, information required on the label, and production procedures to be followed. Nurses/technicians can be actively involved in various aspects of human protection from this substances, including education, population health monitoring, collaboration with other professionals, and providing support in promoting safer work and environmental practices.
