Abstract
Opekline su ozljede tkiva nastale djelovanjem topline, kemikalija ili električne struje. Ovisno o zahvaćenosti tkiva i dubini ozljede, opekline dijelimo u 3 stupnja: prvi, drugi i treći stupanj. Opekline prvog stupnja su najlakše, koža postane crvena, ali se ne razviju mjehuri. Opekline drugog stupnja uzrokuju dublje oštećenje. Koža se ospe mjehurima te je bolno osjetljiva na dodir. Opekline trećeg stupnja uzrokuju najdublje oštećenje. Na mjestu opekline mogu se pojaviti mjehuri, a dlake se mogu jednostavno odstraniti iz svojih korijena. Opekline trećega stupnja nisu bolne, jer su uništeni živčani završeci u koži. Skrb za pacijente s opeklinama organizirana je u 3 faze: hitna (oživljavanje), akutna (cijeljenje rana) i rehabilitacijska. Uloga medicinske sestre u liječenju opeklina je od velike važnosti; ona osigurava čisto i sigurno okruženje u svrhu zaštite pacijenta od unakrsne kontaminacije; održava higijenu ruku prije i nakon kontakta s pacijentom; redovno pregledava i previja rane; pruža informacije o njezi opeklina i očekivanom trajanju liječenja te priprema pacijenta i obitelj za daljnju njegu koju će provoditi kod kuće.
Abstract (english)
Burns are injuries to the tissue caused by heat, chemicals, or electricity. Depending on the tissue's depth and damage, burns are divided into 3 degrees: first, second, and third degree. First-degree burns are the mildest, where the skin turns red, but blisters do not form. Seconddegree burns cause deeper damage, leading to blisters on the skin which is painful to touch. Third-degree burns cause the most profound damage. There might be blisters in the burned area, and hair can easily be plucked from its roots. Third-degree burns are not painful since the nerve endings in the skin are destroyed. Care for burn patients is organized into 3 phases: emergency (resuscitation), acute (wound healing), and rehabilitation. The role of a nurse in burn treatment is crucial; she ensures a clean and safe environment to protect the patient from crosscontamination; maintains hand hygiene before and after patient contact; regularly inspects and dresses wounds; provides information about burn care and expected treatment duration; and prepares the patient and family for continued care at home.
