Abstract
The two main focuses in this paper are on the representation of Asian Americans in media and the notion of the American Dream. The two main issues are exemplified through the characters and the plot of the series Fresh Off the Boat. The paper demonstrates the variation of the definition of the American Dream throughout history. It also provides examples of most common stereotypes in the representation of Asian Americans in media. Another important concept discussed and exemplified in this paper is Du Bois‟ concept of double consciousness.
Abstract (croatian)
Dvije glavne tematike kojima se bavi ovaj rad su prikaz Azijskih Amerikanaca u medijima i koncept Američkog sna čiji su primjeri analizirani kroz likove i radnju serije Fresh Off the Boat. Rad pokazuje mijenjanje definicije Američkog sna kroz povijest, te se bavi primjerima najčešćih stereotipa u prikazu Azijskih Amerikanaca u medijima. Također važan pojam koji je analiziran u ovog radu je Du Boisov koncept dvostruke svijesti.
