Abstract
This diploma thesis deals with the adaptation of turkisms on the semantic level in Vrgorac dialect. In order to see if the turkisms under research underwent any semantic changes in the process of linguistic borrowing, Rudolf Filipović's approach will be used as a guide due to his immense contribution to the field of contact linguistics. Furthermore, before analyzing turkisms in the semantic fields of animals, clothes, everyday activites, food, household, plants, and tools, a short historical overview of the town of Vrgorac will be given to relate the historical with the linguistic aspects of this particular area. Moreover, in order to acquaint ourselves with the Vrgorac dialect, its main characteristics will be described. Finally, something will be said about the influence of Turkish on the Croatian language, and particularly on the dialect under research.
Abstract (croatian)
Ovaj diplomski rad se bavi adaptacijom turcizama u vrgoračkom dijalektu na semantičkoj razini. Kako bi saznali da li su turcizmi pod istragom doživjeli nekakve semantičke promjene u procesu jezičnog posuđivanja, koristit će se pristup Rudolfa Filipovića zbog njegovog velikog doprinosa području kontaktne lingvistike. Nadalje, prije analize turcizama na semantičkoj razini u semantičkim poljima životinja, odjeće, svakodnevnih aktivnosti, hrane, kućanstva, biljaka, te alata, biti će ukratko opisan povijesni pregled grada Vrgorca kako bi povezali povijesne s lingvističkim aspektima ovog specifičnog područja. Štoviše, da bismo se bolje upoznali s vrgoračkom dijalektom, biti će opisane njegove osnovne karakteristike. Na kraju, nešto će biti rečeno i o utjecaju turskog jezika na hrvatski jezik, a posebno na istraživani dijalekt.
