Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
During the Early Modern Period the European global policy was mostly dependent on the policy of the leading European countries, more precisely, on the politics of their ruling houses. Very important factor in the process of creating of their foreign, as well as interior politics was marriage politics. By arranging marriages between dynasties from different countries, European ruling dynasties aimed to strenghten their political positions, also to open the possibility of the expansion on the territories of other countries, strenghten the peacekeeping policy, as well as to end long-term conflicts and to create the policy of balance, which was significant for the Europe in the second half of the seventeenth century and afterwards. It was often the case that in order to achieve those goals the marriages were concluded between relatives of the same dynasties, which was most present in the House of Habsburg, even though the other ruling European dynasties were not exception. However, this type of marriage politics was not usually enough to ensure long-term peace.
