Dans ce mémoire, le but est de présenter la traduction croate d’un discours de la politicienne d’extrême droite française Marine Le Pen, tenu à Perpignan en 2021, et de fournir une analyse descriptive basée sur une approche terminologique et sur les aspects théoriques concernant l’analyse critique du discours et la théorie terminologique et traductologique. Nous commençons par la présentation de notre méthodologie qui est basée sur une approche terminologique. Puis, nous montrerons les idées qui forment les cadres théoriques de ce mémoire et nous choisirons trois ouvrages principaux qui nous serviront le plus dans notre analyse descriptive.

This master’s thesis analyzes language employed by extreme right-wing populists and its translation across two different cultural and linguistic contexts. The objective is to examine the strategic use of fear-inducing rhetoric and its impact on society and individuals. By translating and analyzing a political speech delivered by Marine Le Pen, the prominent leader of a rightwing populist movement, we aim to identify the key lexical choices and rhetorical strategies that evoke fear and perpetuate feelings of insecurity. Drawing on theoretical frameworks of terminology, translation science, and critical discourse, this study offers a multidimensional analysis of fear-laden language. This master’s thesis investigates how terminological choices, semantic nuances, and cultural connotations play a pivotal role in constructing a narrative of fear in a political speech. Moreover, the thesis explores how translators navigate the balance between preserving the emotional impact of fear-driven language and ensuring cultural relevance when adapting the speech to different linguistic contexts. Our research shed light on how right-wing populists create a sense of fear among their followers. The paper not only highlights the linguistic mechanisms used to evoke fear but also explores the underlying ideological and political motivations driving such communication strategies. By examining the impact of fear-based language in French and Croatian contexts, we gain valuable insights into the transnational influence of right-wing populism and the challenges it poses to democratic values. Through this research, we emphasize the critical role of responsible communication in political discourse. By supporting informed dialogue, raising awareness about the manipulation of fear, and encouraging the analysis of language choices, we seek to contribute to a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding translation and politics. In conclusion, this research aims to offer a valuable contribution to the broader discourse on responsible translation of political texts and the responsible use of language in politics in general
