Through evolution, or the adaptation of living organisms to environmental conditions, symmetry in the structure of living beings has developed. However, the increasing complexity of tasks and the development of speech resulted in the preference for one side of the body, which consequently led to the lateralization of brain hemisphere functions. The concept of hand dominance is also closely related to lateralization. One hemisphere assumes a dominant role in cognitive processes and activities such as writing. In addition to the lateralization of motor functions, the lateralization of speech functions is also important. In left-handed individuals, there is a possibility of bilateral representation of speech functions, and research findings suggest an intra-hemispheric "competition" between speech and visuospatial functions. In this regard, researchers explain the differences in performance on verbal and visuospatial tasks between left-handed and right-handed individuals by brain lateralization, i.e., differences in the superiority of the two hemispheres in performing these tasks. The aim of this study was to examine whether there are differences in the performance of left-handed and right-handed individuals in spatial visualization and verbal fluency tasks. The study involved women, 14 left-handed and 35 right-handed (N=49), with an average age of 21.24 years (SD=2.24). The Annet Hand Preference Questionnaire (AHPQ) was used, along with the following tests: CRD1-3 Test for spatial visualization and the The Controlled Oral Word Association (COWA test) (Benton, 1962). It was found that left-handed and right-handed individuals do not differ in their performance on the spatial visualization task or the verbal fluency task.
