This thesis represents the contribution of Giuseppe Sabalich, a notable writer, historian and dramatist to the cultural heritage of Zadar. The cultural heritage is represented through the everyday life of the citizens of Zadar. Despite the fact he was born 160 years ago, he is still considered a modern researcher. In spite of linguistic diversity, he lived and wrote in Croatia and his opus is precious because the information he collected are still part of the cultural heritage of Zadar, interpreted and represented in an interesting and accessible way. Giuseppe Sabalich lived in Zadar from 1856. to1928. and left a significant impact on the social and cultural life of his environment. He was very versatile, while investigating the history of Zadar, he wrote and published a number of literary works from short stories, plays and poems to essays and articles in newspapers. He particularly turned his attention to the study of cultural history, collecting unknown information from the fields of historical research, archeology and ethnology. During his life, his most famous work were his numerous dramas, which were often performed in theaters of Zadar and Italy. Also, his extensive monograph "Cronistoria aneddotica" represents the most comprehensive and exhaustive publication on a theater in Croatia. His works were written exclusively in Italian so he was recognized only until the end of the Italian rule in Zadar, and after the Second World War he was ignored. This paper attempts to explain the value of his works and their great importance to the culture of Zadar. Also, some of his works are the first and the best such works in Croatia, such as "Guida archeologica di Zara con illustrazione araldiche" and "Cronistoria aneddotica del Nobile Teatro di Zara". The result of his collecting are books such as "Curiosità storiche zaratine", "Le Campane Zaratine", "Vecchie storie Zaratine" and "Zara che fu", in which he systematically deals with various topics from the history of the city. His interdisciplinary approach to the theme of the city and its contemporaries is still interesting to researchers seeking to explain the everyday life of a particular area at a particular time.
