Sculpture is a branch of fine art that refers to three-dimensional moulding of bodies created by modeling, carving, forging and casting. According to the degree of plasticity sculpture is divided on: solid plastic and relief sculpture. Relief sculpture is a plastic that is usually processed only from the front and has a low degree of plasticity. The main topic of this thesis is relief sculpture. The topic is first approached theoretically, by exploring the different appearances of reliefs that are first observed from the perspective of formal visual language. It is accompanied by an approach from a historical perspective by highlighting some relief sculpture examples from history of art. The theoretical part also considers the place of relief sculpture in the curriculum of Art class in the primary school. In the practical part, art activities related to relief sculpture are described, designed and realized for primary school students. They were realized in the form of my independent research, described in detail in this thesis and analyzed in order to assess their suitability for performance with students in the classroom.
