Abstract (english) Depression is a disease of great epidemiology that prevents patients from functioning normally, and it is characterized by mood disorders that are characterized by great sadness and bad feelings, guilt and inferiority, withdrawal from others, loss of appetite and sex drive, insomnia and loss of interest in daily activities and the pleasure that emanates from them. It is a disease of the modern age and is therefore a significant public health problem that is the cause of high morbidity and mortality. Symptoms should last for at least two weeks for a diagnosis of depression to be made. Treating a person can be a lengthy and complicated process and is therefore considered a challenge for the patient, doctor and therapist. The COVID-19 pandemic and protection measures caused sudden changes in lifestyle, made it impossible to perform daily activities, denied physical and social contact with loved ones, increased feelings of loneliness and thus endangered the psychological needs of people. During the COVID- 19 pandemic, people who are constantly following the news of the pandemic, people who are in direct contact with the sick, such as health professionals, people who are not married, women, the elderly, people suffering from some other diseases, people living near the focus of the pandemic, pregnant women, children and adolescents, people with lower incomes are at special risk for developing depression. Depression during a pandemic is a public health problem, and it is believed that due to compromised psychological needs and less availability of mental health services, the number of patients will increase and that this growth will be transferred to the post-pandemic period.
