doživljavale su manje strahova i napetosti i imale su viši prag frustracije i uzrujanosti. Svoj
Abstract (english) Advancements in technology and industry resulted in significant reductions in physical
work and movement and the development of television and computers made leisure time
activities related to sofas. All of this contributed to the development of different types of
modern diseases, both physical and mental ones. With regard to promoting exercise as a
vital part of a healthy lifestyle, many different forms of leisure time physical activities
(LTPA), such as Pilates and Yoga, have been popularized in the last 60 years.
The aim of this study was to determine whether there were any differences in Big 5
personality traits, experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress, as well as the
life satisfaction among subjects who are engaged in LTPA and those who are not.
Differences were also measured among three different groups: participants who practice
Yoga, participants who practice Pilates and participants who are not engaged in LTPA.
The questionnaires had been distributed via social media and email, and the questionnaires
used include IPIP-50, DASS-21 and Life satisfaction scale. The participants of this study
were women (N=140) aged between 18 and 65 (M=29,89).
This study found statistically significant difference between the participants who
were engaged in LTPA and participants who were not engaged in LTPA. Participants who
were engaged in LTPA were found to be significantly less emotional and more relaxed and
self satisfied, as well as more organised, reliable and responsible. They felt significantly
less helplessness, had more motivation and self confidence, experienced less fear, tension
and disturbance. They reported their lives to be closer to ideal, they were more satisfied
and had more important things they wanted in life than participants who were not engaged
in LTPA.
Participants who practice Yoga were found to be significantly less emotional, more
relaxed and self satisfied, more organised, reliable and responsible, and they also
experienced less fear, tension and disturbance than participants who were not engaged in
LTPA. Participants who practice Pilates did not differ significantly from the other two
groups. Participants who practice Yoga had the highest levels of positive affect, self
confidence and motivation, and experienced the least amount of helplessness among all
three groups. Three groups did not differ significantly in reported life satisfaction.
