Abstract (english) Exercise is a physical activity of greater intensity than daily physical exertion. With the appereance of man, exercise also appeared. Exercise is one of the essential factors that conditioned the differentiation of man from animals. Weapons, tools and special drawings found in caves and on rocks with motifs from hunting and religious rites, represent significant data on physical activities and physical exercise of prehistoric man. The need to restore psychophysical balance and health is subject to a series of procedures in which kinesiological science plays an important role. In preschool age, physical activity is one of the significant, if not the most important links in the proper development of a child. According to Deket (2003), physical activity not only aims to meet the basic biological needs of the child, but also to discover the innate potentials of children so that they can further develop and enrich themselves. The most important task of preschool education is to take care of the health and proper development of children. For children, play is a priority, so it is important that physical activities are carried out through play and children's activities. In addition to playing, children stimulate overall development through physical activities, meet essential and existential needs, develop cognition, emotional, social and work opportunities. A balanced diet is a fundamental factor that allows a child to develop properly, be healthy and grow into a self-aware person. This paper lists all the characteristics that make up a proper diet as a whole. The paper points out the importance of proper nutrition and the introduction of the habit of daily physical exercise in children from the very beginning, in order to avoid the possible development of obesity and to prevent its continuation in adulthood. In the preschool institution in Split, the project Sport and proper nutrition was implemented, where children learned through play and adopted new knowledge related to physical activity and the importance of proper nutrition, but also its preparation.
