Abstract Rad se bavi društveno-gospodarskim razvojem gradskih naselja srednjodalmatinskih otoka.
Less
Abstract (english) This thesis deals with the socioeconomic development of the urban settlements of the central Dalmatian islands. On these islands there are five urban settlements: Supetar, Stari Grad, Hvar, Vis and Komiža. This thesis gives a historical overview of the development of these settlements, and separately processed natural-geographical factors, especially those that had the most impact on the socioeconomic development of settlements. Current demographic processes and trends of
... More central Dalmatian island settlements and their consequences on the structure of islanders have also been investigated. Similarities and differences in demographic development in individual settlements are presented. It is important to mention that everyone has common concepts of aging, depopulation and emigration of the young population. However, trends also point to the immigration process, with the fact that it is partly a fictitious one, i.e. administrative immigration. Most often, emigration occurs due to further education or the search for a better life. Unfortunately, the decline in the number of young people on the central Dalmatian islands reduces the chance of their demographic recovery. The consequence of this is that on these islands the old and mature island population remains, and the natural change in all observed settlements is negative. Of course, islands that are better connected to the mainland (Brač) have a far better perspective than those of the open sea (Vis) which, due to their distance from the mainland, are experiencing a gradual demographic meltdown. In addition, the development of certain economic activities was analyzed. In the central Dalmatian islands, most people are working in tertiary (service) economic activities. Among them is the most popular tourism. The beginning of tourism on the central Dalmatian islands took place on Hvar, where in 1868 the first tourism society was founded. In its beginnings, tourism on the central Dalmatian islands was then of a winter type that was also health type of tourism. Today, these islands are one of the most famous summer tourist destinations, and they stand out for their natural preservation and rich tourist offers. Less
