Abstract Od svojih samih početaka internet je, usudili bi se reći, najveći fenomen današnjice, najmoćniji medij. Razvojem interneta, došlo je i do razvoja društvenih mreža. Upravo su društvene mreže i njihova uloga u obrazovanju studenata i okosnica ovoga rada. Razvojem tehnologije Internet se sve više razvijao te se počeo koristiti u mnoge različite svrhe. Danas je Internet dostupan gotovo svima i na gotovo svim mjestima. Samim time što je postao pristupačan, stvorila se mogućnost i za razvijanje različitih aplikacija i to ne samo od strane korporacija već i od mladih, individualnih osoba poput studenata. Pojava društvenih mreža uzrokovala je da korisnicima Interneta najvažnija aktivnost bude posjeta te boravaka na društvenim mrežama. Cilj ovog diplomskog rada je analizirati društvene mreže, način funkcioniranja društvenih mreža te njihovu implementaciju u obrazovni proces studenata. Naime, željelo se istražiti na koji način su internet, odnosno društvene mreže s naglaskom na Facebook uključene u obrazovanje studenata. Iako se društvene mreže najčešće koriste u slobodno vrijeme za razbibrigu, postale su neophodne u poslovanju i obrazovanju iz razloga što omogućuju uvijek i brzo doći do željene informacije. U današnje vrijeme, ljudi su na svakom uglu okruženi novim tehnološkim izumima i novotarijama pa ljudska evolucija zahtjeva da svaka iduća generacija bude još vještija u korištenju ICT-a kako bi pojedinac mogao biti u koraku s vremenom. Ulazak ICT-a u obrazovni sustav uvelike je promijenilo sam pristup obrazovanju. Obrazovanje je aktivnost orijentirana na društvo i koja je po tradiciji usko povezana sa učiteljem koji sa studentima ima visoku razinu osobne komunikacije. Uporaba ICT-a u obrazovanju dovodi do odnosa u kojem se student usmjerava na način učenja. Za neke učitelje i studente to stvara probleme jer je još uvijek zastupljen tradicionalni način poučavanja i učenja. Društvene mreže su zadnjih godina postale pravi hit i svakodnevica mladih. Danas se koriste u različite svrhe, kod različitih oblika poslovanja, trgovanja, marketinga pa do najjednostavnijeg oblika komunikacije koja je uvelike zamijenila onu face-to-face. Na postavljeno pitanje o utjecaju društvenih mreža na obrazovanje i njihovo korištenje u obrazovne svrhe, putem ankete koja je bila postavljena studentima Sveučilišta u Zadru dobiven je detaljan prikaz povezanosti obrazovanja i društvenih mreža.
Abstract (english) From its very start internet has been become a huge phenomenon in the modern world, the most powerful media. With the emergence of internet social media has been developing as well. The main thesis of this paper is the social media and its role in the education of students. With the uprising of technology internet has developed and started to be used in a vast variety of ways. Nowadays internet is widely and easily accessible. With internet being present all around, the opportunity of developing various applications has become possible, not just for major corporations but for young individuals, like students, as well. Since social media has emerged it has become one of the main attractions among internet users. The goal of this paper is to analyze social media, their operational systems and means of implementing themselves in the educational methods for students. Furthermore, the intention is to analyze how and to what extent internet and social media, especially Facebook, have become involved with education. Although social media is used mainly for relaxing and casual purposes, it has become a mean of business and education since they have provided interaction and hence made it easier to access information. Today people are surrounded by new technological innovations and it is expected that new generations become more involved with ICT because it is will become essential for an individual to keep up with changes. With implement of ICT into the educational system the education itself has faced changes. Education is an activity oriented towards society and it is traditionally connected with teachers who frequently interact with students. By using ICT in education, students are directed towards new studying methods. For some teachers, as well as students, it represents a problem since traditional and old-fashioned ways of teaching, studying and communication are still very much present. Social media have become an essential part of young people's everyday lives. They are used for various purposes, from a variety of business communication, trading and marketing to the simplest means of communication that has taken over face-to-face communication. An inquiry conducted among students of University of Zadar provided a detailed depiction on the reflecting effect of social media in education and the correlation between the two.
