Introduction: Measles (lat. Morbilli) is one of the most often occurs in childhood. It is transmitted by droplets and incubation usually last 10 – 12 days. The causative agent belongs to the paramyxovirus group. The clinical picture is specific and includes the catarrhal and the exanthemic (smallpox) stage. The clinical picture is characterized by high fever, msculopspulous rash and Kopliks spots in te oral cavity. There is no specific cure for the rash virus, but the sympthoms of the disease are treated. Prevention of measles includes immunization. Possible complications of measles are respiratory, bacterial infections and neurological complications. Purpose: Show the role of the nurse in the occurens of measles or suspected measles. Discussion: The role of the nurse is to know the symptoms, the course of the disease and the complications. Their knowledge and skills should indicate the importance of applying standard epidemiological measures and isolation. The patient and his family should be mentally prepared for isolation and taught about the infectivity of the disease itself. As measles is primary a childhood disease, parents should be told the importance of vaccination and the possible outcomes of non-vaccination. Conlussion: The role of the nurse is to encourage the population to be vaccinated and to point out the positive effects of the vaccine. The nurse is a health care provider, educator and main source of information. Their communication skills should know how to use different communication models to encourage population fragmentation.
