Abstract Diplomski rad tematizira žensku (ratnu) prozu 90-ih godina 20. stoljeća.
Abstract (english) The thesis deals with women's war prose in the 90s of the 20th century. Women's letter is analyzed, mainly based on literature of the nineties, the war years in literature. Although women writers, both in Croatian and world literature, are less represented than men writers, they are the ones who gave literature a special, "feminine" stamp, introduced a different kind of emotion and by their courage and intimacy influenced the popularity and creation of a readership as well as the rise of national literature. Women's letter is often defined with a difference in relation to the term women's writing, and is used for all female authors who deal with traditionally understood women's topics. War testifying is very important. However, women’s writing about the experience of war is not just reporting. It represents observation, self-knowledge and depiction of war. Some of the characteristics of women's war discourse are: describing discomfort, anxiety, fear, loss of faith in the future, questioning relationships with oneself and others, revealing ways of life in exile, etc. All these characteristics can be seen in the analyzed prose works: “April in Berlin” by Daša Drndić, “Museum of Unconditional Surrender” and the “Ministry of Pain” by Dubravka Ugrešić, “Bus people” by Vesna Biga, “The Story of Pavle” by Slavica Stojan and “As if I do not exist” by Slavenka Drakulić. As a common motif we can point out: exile, identity, home, travel, dream and photography. All authors of prose works write in a special, authentic way, and what they have in common is that the circumstances of the war are showed by documentary discourse. The aim of the paper is to present the Croatian war women's letter in the 1990s in order to confirm and analyze how the women's perspective influenced the development and formation of today's literature.
