VZV je visoko je infekciozan. Kod primarne infekcije se razvije varičela ili vodene kozice, koja se prenosi putem direktong kontakta kožom s mjehurićima ili zrakom. Nakon primarne infekcije, VZV ostaje latentan u ganglijima živaca, i može se reaktivirati godinama poslije kao herpes zoster. Herpes zoster je virusna, zarazna bolest koja dovodi do teških bolnih izbijanja mjehura na koži ispunjenih tekućinom. Najčešće obolijevaju odrasli ljudi koji su u dječjoj dobi preboljeli varičelu. Herpes zoster uzrokuje isti virus koji uzrokuje varičelu. Bolest počinje naglo, s povišenom temperaturom, osjećajem slabosti i neuralgičnim smetnjama u predjelu kože na mjestu na kojem će se poslije razviti osip. Liječenje se provodi antivirusnim lijekovima (aciklovir), i to uspješno ako se počne u akutnoj fazi bolesti, i to 3-4 dana od pojave osipa. Cilj rada: Prikazati ulogu medicinske sestre kod bolesnika oboljelih od varicela zoster virusa Rasprava: Kod sprječavanja širenja infekcije VZV je potrebno provoditi određene mjere u sprječavanju širenja ove bolesti, edukacija oboljelih osoba, osoba koje su u kontaktu s oboljelim, te samog medicinskog osoblja. Ako do oboljenja dođe potrebno je ovakvog bolesnika izolirati, te provoditi liječenje. U pravilu se ovi bolesnici ne hospitaliziraju, osim ako se radi o imunokompromitiranim bolesnicima, te rizičnim skupinama bolesnika Zaključak: Obzirom na to da je VZV visoko zarazna bolest, potrebno je provoditi sve mjere u svrhu sprječavanja širenja infekcija, edukacija bolesnika o načinu širenja bolesti i simptomima bolesti, te o prevenciji bolesti.
Abstract (english) Introduction: Varicella zoster virus is a herpes virus. VZV is highly contagious disease. In primary infections varicella or chicken pox develops, which is spread by skin contact with lesion or airborne contact. After primary infection, VZV stays latent in nerve ganglia, and it can reactivate years later as a herpes zoster or shingles. Herpes zoster is a viral, contagious disease manifested as a hard, painful rash on the skin which is filled with fluid. The incidence of this disease is increased in elderly people who had varicella zoster virus (VZV) in childhood. Herpes zoster (or shingles) is caused by the same virus that causes varicella (or chicken pox). That is the varicella zoster virus (VZV), that belongs to herpes virus. The disease starts abruptly, with high fever, weakness and neuralgic disturbances on the skin where rash will appear later on. The disease is treated with antiviral medicine (aciklovir) successfully if the treatment is given in acute phase, 3-4 days after rash appears. Purpose: To show nurses role in varicella zoster Discussion: To prevent spread of VZV infection it is necessary to implement certain measures in prevention spreading of this disease, education of ill people and persons that were in contact with patient, and also education of medical persone. In case of diseases, it is necessary to isolate this patient, and treat this patient. This patient usually don't get admit to hospital, except immunocompromised patient. Conclusion: Because VZV is highly contagious disease it is necessary to prevent spread of disease, educate patients about disease and prevention of disease
