Abstract
The aim of this paper is to investigate the situation in New Zealand in terms of the country's language policy and minority languages, which are the New Zealand Sign Language, Pacific and community languages. The theoretical part of the thesis represents New Zealand as a country, and gives definitions of language policy and planning and minority languages. The second part portrays the development of a language policy in New Zealand, and the process of Māori language revitalization. Later,... More minority languages and their connection with the country's language policy are put forward. The third part of the paper compares Australian and New Zealand's approach to a language policy and learning of languages, focusing primarily on Asian languages. Cilj ovog rada je istražiti jezičnu politiku i jezične manjine Novog Zelanda, koje uključuju znakovni jezik Novog Zelanda, pacifičke jezike i jezike zajednice. Teorijski dio rada predstavlja Novi Zeland i objašnjava pojmove poput jezične politike, jezičnog planiranja te jezičnih manjina.
