This master´s thesis is devoted to study of the phrase in the language of mass media such as newspaper articles, the Internet, and commercials. At the beginning, terms of phraseology and phrase were defined. Presented is also classification of the phrase into the origin, form and affiliation of a certain functional style. Phrases were analyzed in newspaper articles, political discourse, russian advertising, and the concepts of neologism, biblism and hashtag were also presented. Examples of the phrase are first discussed from a semantic aspect, their meaning, then their affiliation to the style, and finally from the type of phraseological relation. Phrases are often present in mass media communication because of their fun, but also metaphorical, expressive, and imaginative character. They leave a strong impression on the recipient of information. To conclusion is, they are present in all spheres of communication and play a very important role.
