Abstract Prema većini istraživanja moć govornog stila ima utjecaj na evaluaciju govornika, odnosno na procjene njegove autoritativnosti, socijabilnosti, atribucije kontrole itd. Post- hoc analiza interakcijskog efekta moći govornog stila i snage argumenata nije pokazala značajnost razlika. Postojao je i interakcijski efekt moći govornog stila i potrebe za spoznajom na procjene socijabilnosti, međutim post- hoc testom opet nisu bile utvrđene razlike.
Abstract (english) According to most research power of speech style has an impact on speaker evaluation, more precisely, on authoritativeness, sociability, and attributions of control. However, little is known about the impact of the power of speech style on persuasion. Argument strength and need for cognition, variables that are rarely included in research on the power of speech style, could have an impact on persuasion and speaker evaluation, according to some researchers. Following that, the goal of this research was to examine the relationship between need for cognition, argument strength, the power of speech style, and persuasion, speaker evaluation and attributions of control. The research was conducted on a sample of 312 students of the University of Zadar, that gave their evaluation on a) a proposal that was suggested in the speech, b) attribution of speakers self-control and control over others, and c) speaker evaluation scale. Analysis showed that the measure of evaluation, speakers self-control, and control of others are positively correlated with the measure of persuasion. Furthermore, it is shown that the abovementioned variables are also positively correlated among themselves. It was found that the proposal was evaluated more positively while using powerful speech style in contrast to powerless. Also, a proposal was evaluated more positively by speakers who had a higher need for cognition in contrast to ones with lower. Moreover, participants evaluated speakers selfcontrol much higher while using powerful speech style – in contrast to powerless – and while using strong arguments – in contrast to weak ones. Control over others variable showed a similar pattern of results with an interactional effect alongside. The interactional effect was not shown to be significant in a post-hoc analysis. In addition to that, speakers authoritativeness was perceived significantly higher in a powerful speech condition in contrast to powerless. Posthoc analysis of the interactional effect between the power of speech style and argument strength did not turn out to be significant. Likewise, there was an interactional effect of power of speech style and need for cognition on sociability evaluation, but again, post-hoc tests found no significant difference.
