... More Beziehungen zwischen Opfern und Tätern analysiert. Auch unterschiedliche Erfahrungen führen zu Loyalitätskonflikten, die den Protagonisten unerschiedliche Probleme brachten. Deshalb liegt der Fokus im Roman „Meeresstille“ auch auf dem Leben der Protagonisten, mit der Beschreibung aller Hindernisse und Probleme, die es in der Kriegszeit zu bewältigen gilt. Eines der wichtigsten Themen zu dieser Zeit ist nicht nur die Schuldfrage, die im Kontext der Handlung behandelt wird, sondern auch die Liebesgeschichte, die im Schatten des Krieges steht und schließlich scheitert.
