Abstract Ovaj rad predstavlja rad čovjeka-filozofa i uspoređuje ga s mišlju čovjeka-vjernika i čovjekaznanstvenika kroz povijest, te predstavlja značaj i razumijevanje filozofije kao takve kroz razdoblja antike, srednjeg vijeka, novog vijeka i modernog doba.
Abstract (english) This paper presents the thought of man-philosopher and compares it with the work of manbeliever and man-scientist through history, and represents the significance and understanding of philosophy as such throughout the periods of antiquity, the Middle Ages, the New Age and the Modern Age. Some interpretations of philosophy have been made through history, as well as the reason for development seen from the perspective of modern times. The image of the historical development of philosophy was obtained by studying Copleston's history of philosophy and philosophical rhyming, while further literature was used to better understand the described periods. This work seeks to prove the autonomy of philosophy as a special kind of science, which is fundamentally different from the scientific and religious view of the world, to which it would always be replaced. It tries to show its comprehensiveness and power to look at things in the broadest possible perspective, which should be pursued after exhaustive analysis, and not marginalize it as it is still customary once things are learned through one of the methods. The work is concluded by Karl Jaspers's view of philosophy, or philosophical faith, as one of the possible explanations and 'defenses' of philosophy as an essential piece of knowledge and path to truth. With this kind of thinking, the way of life is connected and the way it is lived is explained in the last chapter as the philosophical existence is closely related to its ratio.
