Abstract
This bachelor thesis deals with the differences in non-verbal communication in culture- and non-culture-related contexts. The first chapter provides the theoretical framework of non verbal communication. Moreover, the basic categorization of non-verbal communication is presented by highlighting some of the issues regarding the inconsistent categorization of non verbal communication. The next focus of this bachelor thesis is placed on non-culture-specific differences in non-verbal communication. This aspect is discussed by providing some of the most relevant studies and approaches which question the role of gender differences regarding women’s and men’s usage of non-verbal communication. Furthermore, the following chapter of this bachelor thesis deals with culture-specific differences in non-verbal communication. This final chapter is concerned with non-verbal communication within different cultures. Therefore, by presenting an overview of the classification of different types of cultures, the question of the importance of non-verbal communication for different cultures will be posed.
Abstract (croatian)
Ovaj se završni rad bavi neverbalnom komunikacijom i razlikama fokusirajući se na one koje jesu i one koje nisu kulturološki uvjetovane. Prvo poglavlje pruža teorijski okvir vezan za neverbalnu komunikaciju. Nadalje, prikazuje se osnovna kategorizacija neverbalne komunikacije s naglaskom na različite pristupe i definicije same neverbalne komunikacije. Sljedeći se aspekt ovog završnog rada odnosi na nekulturološki uvjetovane razlike u neverbalnoj komunikaciji. Taj se dio završnog rada odnosi na predstavljanje različitih studija i pristupa koji propituju ulogu i važnost koncepta roda za neverbalnu komunikaciju muškaraca i žena. Posljednje se poglavlje ovog završnog rada odnosi na neverbalnu komunikaciju različitih kultura. Stoga se kroz prikaz različitih vrsta kultura postavlja pitanje o važnosti neverbalne komunikacije za pripadnike različitih kultura.
