Less
Abstract (english) AIM OF THE WORK: 1) To present a set of measures and procedures related to diarrhea caused by Clostridium difficile which are of significance for the health care of the patient; 2) outline directions to prevent the spread of Clostridium difficile in hospital departments; 3) present standard isolation measures and the role of healthcare worker in preventing the spread of Clostridium difficile isolates INTRODUCTION: A hospital infection is one of the infections that occurred during a hospital
... More treatment during a hospital, resulting in an error in providing health care, conducting a surgical or other diagnostic or therapeutic procedure. Clostridium difficile is an anaerobic, grampositive bacterium that is the most common cause of diarrhea acquired in the hospital and whose incidence is increasing. The risk factors are: exposure to particularly risky antibiotics, high age (> 65 years), poor response of hosts, admission from the nursing home and institution where Clostridium difficile is endemic, prolonged hospitalization, malignancy, suppressing gastric acid, gastrointestinal and transplantation surgery, immunosuppression, admission to the Intensive Care Unit (JIL), nasogastric intubation, inflammatory bowel disease, Clostridium difficile exposure of the infected patient in the same room or from the contaminated environment, exposure to virulent strain 027 Clostridium difficile, feeding with the enteral probe. DISCUSSION: Hospital Infections are highlighted as a problem of importance in modern medicine, because complicating the course and outcomes of the illness due to hospitalization leave permanent consequences or cause death. Clostridium difficile is a sensitive bacterium in vegetative form, therefore it creates spores that allow it to be maintained and survive the environmental conditions for a longer period of time. CONCLUSION: Reducing the transmission risk for all patients, both infected and colonized, is achieved by clearly defined standard measures and procedures that are suitable for all microorganisms that cause hospital infections and can also be transmitted from infected and colonized patients to other patients and staff. By implementing guidelines and standard interventions to reduce the spread of pathogenic microorganisms, the possibility of infection is minimized. Less
