Abstract (english) Nowadays, when the rapid development of the world led to easier communication between members of different, distant cultures, cultural differences are coming to the fore, and the importance of the term interculturality is increasing. Multuculturality refers to a certain state, a fact that the same area is inhabited by different cultures, while interculturality also refers to an interaction between these cultures. City of Vukovar, as an multicultural place marked by warfare and tensions between Croats and Serbs, where members of these two ethnicities are still attending different schools, is a great place to conduct a study on education and cultural diversity. This study included students of the seventh and eighth grade in three elementary schools in Vukovar, and for the purpose of this study a survey questionnaire with 40 questions of open and closed type was used. The questionnaire consists of three parts, the first one examines the socio-demographic and other characteristics of the respondents, the second examines their intercultural sensitivity, and the third one examines their attitudes toward integrated schooling. The results of the study show that the majority of respondents are interculturaly sensitive, that there is no difference in intercultural sensitivity with regard to their ethnicity and parents' education level. However, there is a statistically significant difference in the degree of intercultural sensitivity in respondents with regard to gender. The results show that girls have a higher degree of intercultural sensitivity than boys. Also, the results show that the attitude of the majority of respondents is positive toward integrated schooling. The results show that the need for intercultural education and intercultural activities, which would promote tolerance and acceptance, and celebrate the differences between different cultures, is still significant. Increase and promotion of intercultural sensitivity is crucial for progress in the globalized world, and educational institutions should be playing a key role in that.
