Abstract U posljednjih nekoliko godina, uz sve veći razvoj i prisutnost društvenih mreža, javlja se novi oblik fotografija, tzv. selfiji, koji predstavljaju integralan dio korištenja društvenih mreža. Novija istraživanju u ovom području ispituju odnos količine, vrste i čestine objavljivanja selfija na društvenim mrežama s određenim osobinama ličnosti poput narcizama, makijavelizama i samopoštovanja.
Abstract (english) During the last several years, and following the increasing development and popularity of social networks, a new form of photography has emerged, the so-called selfies which have become an integral part of social network usage. Recent research in this area have focused on the relation between the type, volume and frequency of selfie-posting and personality traits such as narcissism, Machiavellianism, and self-esteem. The aim of this study was to determine how narcissism and self-esteem relate to selfie-posting frequency, and selfie liking. A total of 114 highschool students took part in the study, 65 of whom were boys and 49 girls with the mean age being 16. A specially constructed survey was used to determine personal trends connected to sefie taking and posting. Next, the NPI - 40 (The Narcissistic Personality Inventory; Raskin i Terry, 1988) was used to measure the subject's level of subclinical narcissism along with Rosenberg's self-esteem scale (1965) used to measure selfesteem levels. The results showed that boys and girls did not differ in selfie-posting frequency nor selfie-liking. Individuals higher in narcissism tend to express higher selfie-liking but there was no correlation found between narcissism and selfie-posting frequency. Furthermore, the relationship between narcissism subscales (leadership/authority and grandiose exhibitionism) and selfie-posting frequency, and selfie-liking was examined and it was found that subjects scoring high on grandiose exhibitionism subscale, but not on leadership/authority subscale, posted sefies more frequently and showed higher selfie-liking. No relationship was found between self-esteem and, neither selfie-posting , nor selfie-liking.
