Putopisci su često prvi izvjestitelji o stranoj kulturi, njezinoj baštini i književnom životu. On istodobno predstavlja vlastitu kulturu u stranom prostoru i upoznaje matični prostor s tuđom kulturom. Svaki putopisac je na neki način nesvjesni komparatist, koji uspoređuje inozemni svijet sa domaćim svijetom, u kojem pokušava pronaći prisutnost vlastite nacionalne kulture u stranoj. Putovanje se može pojaviti kao istraživanje, sazrijevanje, povratak ili preobrazba, a može poprimiti i oblike procesa života analize ili tumačenja simbolične ili alegorijske strukture svijeta, spoznaje, društvene analize. Što se tiče putopisa na njemačkom jeziku o Dalmaciji, prvo treba istaknuti da se radi o austrijskoj književnosti, austijskoj politici i kulturnom razvoju u XIX. stoljeću. Mnogi putopisci su stizali u Dalmaciju preko nečijih preporuka ili svojevoljno. Među njima se ističu austrijski putopisci Josef Marx von Liechtenstern, Franz Petter, austrijski putopisac Hermann Bahr te njemački putopisci Ernst Friedrich Germar, Heinrich Stieglitz, Georg Baumberg, Alexander von Warsberg i Ida von Düringsfeld. Ovi članci koji nas pojedinačno uvode u svaki putopis, mogli bi se svakako nazvati znanstvenim studijama. Živopisnost rada svakako zahvaljujemo na samoj prirodi putopisne avanture koji su putopisci doživjeli.
Abstract (english) Travel book is a genre theme designed by authentic journey entity ,travel writer who describes areas where he travels and places he recounts, the adventures on the way, shares observations about the people on the road, encounters their customs and way of life and often the cultural and artistic sights in the regions which he finds. Travel writers are often the first reporters of foreign culture, its heritage and literary life. He also represents their culture in a foreign territory and meets the home space with someone else's culture. Every traveler is somehow unaware comparatist, which compares the external world with the domestic world, which tries to find the presence of their own national culture in foreign. The journey may appear as research, maturation, return or transformation, and may take the form of processes of life analysis or interpretation of symbolic or allegorical structure of the world, knowledge, social analysis. As for the travel writing in German about Dalmatia, first it should be noted that it is of Austrian literature, Austrian policy and cultural development in the XIX century. Many travel writers arrived in Dalmatia through someone's recommendation or voluntarily. Among them, the Austrian travel writers Josef von Liechtenstern Marx, Franz Petter, Hermann Bahr and German travelers Ernst Friedrich Germar, Heinrich Stieglitz, Georg Baumberg, Alexander von Warsberg and Ida von Düringsfeld. These articles, which we individually introduced in each itinerary, we could certainly call it scientific studies. Vividness of work certainly thank you for the very nature of travelogue adventure travelers who have experienced.
