Abstract (english) In the novel Siddhartha, it is possible to notice that Hermann Hesse doesn’t build his story on too much action and that his story is not written for pure excitement; it is more an artistic version of his own personal story, enriched with the philosophy of life. The source from which the novel is built, is not just the admiration of the Indian world and the role model Buddha, but it is also the depth of the author itself. The teachings, however noble they assume to be, are not enough for Siddhartha to help him reach harmony and peace. Above the teachings, the self-experience raises as the one that can build the knowledge and find the peace. Not just the teachings from Buddha, from Brahma, and the ascetics are present in the novel, but Hermann Hesse succeeds to honor also the teachers as J. W. Goethe, Lao Tse, and also his own family. With the important figures from the novel, Hermann Hesse shows his opinion on the Maschinenkultur, on the strong sentimentality, and also on a magical friend who has the best skills in listening. With the importance of meditation and also the possibility to let go and laugh about the way things are going, Hermann Hesse manages to build a dialog between west and east, but he also makes himself and his novel a teacher of humanity.
