Abstract | U središtu istraživanja ovoga rada je metaforika bolesti i bolesnih stanja u romanima Slavenke Drakulić. |
Abstract (english) | At the center of the research of this paper is the metaphor of illness and disease states in the novels of Slavenka Drakulić. As the main novels of the interpretation of this work, the novels Holograms of Fear and Frida or about pain were arbitrarily taken. In order to investigate the subject novels as clearly as possible, the theoretical background of Susan Sontag, Illness as Metaphor, is presented at the very beginning. The first chapter therefore brings the most important determinants of Susan Sontag's theory, and as a supplement to this chapter, Elaine Scarry's theory, The Body in Pain, is also presented. Through the second chapter, we then proceeded to the interpretation of the novel Holograms of Fear, in which the meaning of metaphor was explained at the very beginning, using mostly the Dictionary of Stylistic Figures by Krešimir Bagić and the theory of Metaphors that mean life by George Lakoff and Mark Johnson. This theory is key to understanding metaphors through the work, and it started from the hologram metaphor itself, visible in the title of the novel Holograms of Fear. Throughout the chapters, we dealt with the metaphor of the sick body, the metaphor of marking and other metaphors that were found in this, Slavenka Drakulić's first novel. Furthermore, in the next central part of the work, we dealt with the novel Frida or about pain. Through this interpretation, the novel itself is briefly explained, so that the recipient can follow the interpretation more easily. Through the explanation of who Frida Kahlo was, the novel began to take a metaphorical view of the disease itself. Metaphors of the sick body, markings, metaphors of the body as a cage were presented through the non-functional, sick body. The last chapter is dedicated to the up-down orientation metaphor, which is visible in this novel. At the very end, a conclusion was presented, with which we compared the attitude of the main protagonists towards the disease. |
