Abstract
Općina Novigrad smještena je na sjeveroistočnom rubnom dijelu Ravnih kotara, te obuhvaća naselja Novigrad, Pridragu i Paljuv. U kasnom srednjem vijeku pa do dolaska Osmanlija Novigrad je bio središte mnogo šireg područja zvanog Novigradski distrikt ili Kotar. Na području današnje općine tijekom srednjeg vijeka nalazilo se više srednjovjekovnih sela koja podrazumjevamo pod nazivom Dolac. Dolac se u srednjem vijeku još javlja pod imenom Dol, Martindol i Sutmartindol, odnosno Dol svetog Martina, i bio je poljoprivredno važno područje s izlaskom na more i sigurnom lukom u novigradskom zaljevu naseljenom od prapovijesti To je područje na kojem se nalaze crkva sv. Martina, crkva sv. Mihovila i ostaci samostana nastali na antičkoj vili rustici,te nedaleka nekropola na brežuljku Goričina.Sam Novigrad je pripadao Krbavskim knezovima koji obnavljaju utvrdu i pod tom utvrdom posjeduju mnoga sela. Izvan mjesta jugoistočno na osami nalazila se crkva sv.Kate i franjevački samostan. U ovom radu obrađena je arheološka topografija i do sada obavljena arheološka istraživanja na području koje danas zauzima općina Novigrad, a koja se odnose na razdoblje od kasne antike do novog vijeka.

Municipality Novigrad is situated in the north east edge part of Ravni kotari and includes settlements: Novigrad, Pridraga i Paljuv. In the late Middle Ages until the arrival of the Ottomans Novigrad was the center of a much wider area, so called the District of Novigrad or Kotar. In the area of today`s municipality during the Middle Ages there were several villages which we mean by name Dolac. Dolac in the Middle Ages appears under the name Dol, Martindol and Sutmartindol, that say Dol of St. Martin and was an important agricultural area with access to the sea and protected harbour in Novigrad Bay, inhabited since prehistoric time. This is an area where there are church of St.Martin, church St. Mihovil and the remains of the monastery arose at the villa rustica and near on the hill Goričina there is necropolis.Novigrad itself belonged to princes of Krbava that restored the fortress. Under the fortress they possessed many villages. In the Southeast of the place, in solitude, is located the church St. Katherine and the Franciscan monastery. In this paper is processed archeological topography and so far conducted archaeological researches in the area that today occupies the municipality Novigrad, and relating to the period from late antiquity to early modern period.
