Abstract

Electronic bussines started its uprising following the growth and development of Internet and its accompanying technologies. As an ideal medium for networking, remote communicaton and data sharing Internet founded today's modern electronic business. There is a vast number of models of electronic businees, some of which had great success, but majority of them have failed at their very beginning. Companies in the 21.st., both large ones and smaller ones, strive to evolve their business model from the now, almost archaic classic, to the model of electronic business. Not only does this model have great benefits like bridging large distances and great data transfer speeds, it also gives companies opportunities to save money and simplify their business. Migration to electronic business is not an easy and swift process. There are a lot of infrastructural and organisational tasks to complete to ensure successful business. But the results, as seen from many reports, are very cost effective, and there is also the need of modernising business models due to the tehnological era we currently live in.One of the best examples of electronic business is Internet banking. Today's fast paced life rhythm has caused people to shorten the time which they used to dedicate to handling every tasks such as paying bills, managing their bank accounts, paying their loan installments etc. Internet banking enabled people to use their computers or smartphones as means for accesing their bank account eliminating the need for visiting the bank, waiting in queues and dealing with extensive paperworks. In Europe, and many other developed world countries, Internet banking is well developed and has a great number of regular users. The numbers in Croatia paint a different picture showing us that Internet banking is stil at it's beginnings. There can be two main reasons for that. Either it is due to the fact that the majority of older population is still relatively tehnologically illiterate or they simply feel safer going to the bank and personally managing their money. No matter what, Internet banking and other models of electronic business are inevitable occurence and will, due to the fast and constant tehnological advances, become predominant ways of conducting business.
