Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
From the moment of its appearance, photography was a medium that forever changed man's relationship to the real world. Thanks to the possibility of copying, photography quickly achieved widespread distribution and general acceptance among the people. Its ability to permanently record and display a fraction of reality made it irreplaceable. The nature of the photographic record is unique not only because of the content that is being transferred or its aesthetic value, but also because of its own importance, which is reflected in a specific photographic process by which it was created. As such, photography is a unique and valuable source of information that has found its well-deserved place in the museum.Which photographs will be collected depends on the collecting policy of a particular museum, its goals, but also of the possibilities of the institution. Once the museum comes into the possession of the photographic material it is important to establish priorities for processing, followed by evaluation of the material, its organization and detailed description. In order to ensure the permanent value of the photographic material, museum institution must take appropriate protection measures and establish the proper use policy and its availability. In order to establish the intellectual and physical property rights over the photographs, it is important for the museum to resolve all the relevant legal issues related to the acquisition, as well as ownership rights. The role of photography in the museum practice is multiple. It consists in its exhibition, documentary and communication role. Also, the standards of museum communications have greatly changed with the appearance of digital photography. In addition to becoming an indispensable part of the museum documentation, it has opened some new issues related to gathering of digital photography and its further entry into the museum, which has yet to be answered.
