Abstract
Na našem priobalju ronjenje ima dugu tradiciju. U Republici Hrvatskoj definirano je šest vrsta ronjenja: športsko, rekreativno, znanstveno ronjenje, izvođenje ili obavljanje ronilačkih radova, te ronjenje za potrebe ribarstva i ronjenje za posebne potrebe, poput policijskih ili vojnih potreba. Zadnjih godina u Istri i Dalmaciji osobito je popularizirano športsko i rekreativno ronjenje. Unatoč tome, ronjenje je potencijalno opasna aktivnost zbog izloženosti ronioca promjenama fizičkih zakona, uslijed djelovanja povišenog tlaka, kao i promjene životne sredine, boravkom u vodi. U ovom radu prikazani su osnovni plinski zakoni. Uz to objašnjeno je i djelovanje plinova koje koristi ronilac u vodenom okruženju s povišenim tlakom. Pod utjecajem dubine parcijalni tlakovi plinova rastu i izazivaju različite štetne učinke u tijelu ronioca. Opisane su i posljedice djelovanja visokog tlaka na pluća, sinuse i srednje uho. Sve se takve bolesti jednim imenom nazivaju dizbarične ronilačke bolesti. Ove bolesti su izuzetno opasne i unatoč današnjim tehničkim i medicinskim mogućnostima liječenja, mogu rezultirati smrtnim ishodom. Upravo iz ovoga razloga, iznimno je važna uspješna prevencija ovih bolesti.
Abstract (english)
The subject thesis entitled Diving and decompression sickness presents research on the basic laws of gas physics, the effect of depth and high pressures of gases on the human body, decompression sickness and methods of treatment, which is the aim of the paper. Diving has many significant advantages because it enables the development of physical fitness, breathing techniques and the improvement of cardiovascular health by performing underwater swimming exercises. During diving, an increased amount of dangerous bubbles can form in the diver's lungs, which he can prevent by limiting the depth and duration of the dive. Decompression sickness can be caused by repeated and numerous dives, and since after each dive the excess gas remains in the body, it increases with each new dive. Decompression sickness requires recompression in a chamber under high pressure, in such a way that the pressure gradually increases, and therefore the bubbles are compressed and "forced" to dissolve, leading to the establishment of normal blood flow and oxygen supply.
