Montessori parenting-educational system puts a child into focus enabling undisturbed, spontaneous and active learning. The aim od this paper is to present the characteristics od Montessori educator, see into their work method as well as exploring professional competences and acquiring expertise. In addition, the basic pedagogical approach of Montessori parentingeducational method will be observed using the example of practice on a group of children in one kindergarten in Zadar. However, each Montessori educator should be aware of his role as a model to children. They have to let the child become independent, to make decisions of their own, to build their characterand to perceive their own rhythm of development. Maria Montessori had contributed greatly to the new method od work with children as well as indicated the pedagogical principles of work that every Montessori educator should possess. To be working at Montessori institutions or parenting-educational groups, educators have to undergo the Montessori education which provides them with required skills, competence and knowledge pointing out the years worth of observation and work that Maria Montessori had done.
