Abstract
Video igre kao i gaming općenito u prošlosti se doživljavao kao područje kojim vladaju muškarci. Žene dugo vremena nisu bile ravnopravno zastupljene u gamingu zbog čega su nastajale razne predrasude o gamerskoj sceni i njenom odnosu prema ženama. Ovaj rad ispituje percepciju i stavove spram žena unutar gamerske populacije. Osnovni ciljevi su nam pokazati koje su poveznice između muških i ženskih gamera kao i otkriti u kojoj mjeri je seksizam prisutan i povezan s video igrama. Također ovaj rad nastoji ustanoviti koje gamerske karakteristike su povezane sa zastupanjem seksističkih stavova o rodnim ulogama. Podatci su prikupljeni online anketnim upitnikom na uzorku studentske populacije (N=123) gdje se ustanovilo da postoji pozitivna korelacija između dominantno kompetitivnog stila igranja i raznih oblika seksizma.
Abstract (english)
Video games as well as gaming in general have in the past been perceived as an area ruled by men. For a long time, women were not equally represented in gaming, which led to various prejudices about the gaming scene and its attitude towards women. This paper examines perceptions and attitudes toward women within the gamer population. The main goals are to show us what the links are between male and female gamers as well as to discover the extent to which sexism is present and associated with video games. Also, this paper seeks to establish which gamer characteristics are associated with the representation of sexist attitudes about gender roles. Data were collected by an online survey questionnaire on a sample of the student population (N=123) where it was found that there is a positive correlation between the predominantly competitive style of play and various forms of sexism.
