Abstract
U ovom diplomskom radu imena Krv, čast i odanost: reprezentacije nasilja u mafijaškim filmovima problematizira se ekraniziranje fenomena nasilja kroz specifičnosti tri filma mafijaškog podžanra: The Godfather, Goodfellas i Eastern Promises. Cilj rada je pobliže sagledati i interpretirati filmske narative kroz prizmu nasilja koje se pojavljuje u širokom rasponu (fizičko nasilje, strukturalno nasilje, kulturno nasilje, rodno nasilje i igre moći) te kako ono utječe na 'potvrđivanje' već ustaljenih etničkih stereotipa kao i na stvaranje novih. Rad je podijeljen na tri ključna dijela, počevši od metodološko-teorijskog okvira koji postavlja podlogu za nadolazeću raspravu o popularnoj kulturi i njezinoj produkciji unutar društveno-povijesnih okvira, kao i osnove za analizu međusobno vječno isprepletenih oblika nasilja prikazanih putem odbranih filmskih uradaka.
Abstract (english)
This thesis entitled Blood, honor and loyalty: representations of violence in mafia films problematizes the screening of the phenomenon of violence through the specifics of three films belonging to the mafia subgenre: The Godfather, Goodfellas and Eastern Promises. The aim of this paper is to take a closer look and interpret film narratives through the prism of the wide ranges of violence (physical violence, structural violence, cultural violence, gender violence and power games) and how they influence the 'confirmation' of established ethnic stereotypes, as well as the creation of new ones. The paper is divided into three key parts, starting with the methodological-theoretical framework that lays the groundwork for the upcoming discussion of popular culture and its production within socio-historical frameworks, as well as a basis for analyzing the intertwined forms of violence potrayed through the selected films.
