Listening to music is one of the most enigmatic human behaviors. Music as a means of communication can help overcome obstacles and develop mutual understanding. The magnificence of music as a healing medium is that sounds and vibrations have a significant impact on the brain. Music stimulates deeper parts of the brain and brings symbols, visualizations and emotions to the fore. In addition to helping to redirect activities between areas of the brain and thus facilitating their functioning, the additional potential of music is certainly the enthusiasm and enthusiasm it often evokes in children. It is concluded that today, despite the growing knowledge about the relationship between feelings, mood and music, musical inclinations, their foundation and development and their role in music education and music therapy, it still remains a fairly new research area that certainly needs to be deepened as much as possible in order to be implemented as well and comprehensively as possible in everyday professional and personal work and development. The diploma thesis is mostly a review paper, and to a lesser extent a research on the application of music therapy in working with children with special needs in which three music therapists participated. I also bring two case reports, one of which is a case of a boy with autism and the other is a case of a girl with Down syndrome. This thesis will present knowledge about the impact of music on man, music therapy, different approaches and methods in music therapy and the possibilities of applying music therapy in working with children with special needs. Research from the field of music implementation in working with children with special needs will also be presented. The aim of this paper is to determine the meaning, influence of music and the application of music therapy in working with children with special needs.
