Abstract (english) | The stroke is among the main causes of death and permanent disability, both in Croatia and worldwide. Although it is associated with numerous risk factors of different type, the most frequent causes of stroke are a hectic and unhealthy lifestyle, unhealthy diet, obesity, high blood pressure, smoking and alcohol abuse, diabetes, high cholesterol, blood clotting disorders, hematological hereditary and cardiovascular disease. Although it may not seem so, the accumulated stress caused by the unrealistic requirements and expectations of the employer, including short deadlines and mobbing, the inability to find an adequate work, financial difficulties and uncertain future, partly caused by the existing coronavirus pandemic, are the reason why there are ever more young people suffering from a stroke and a cardiovascular arrest. A stroke occurs as a result of the interrupted flow of oxygen to the brain, and the cause of it can be a blood clot or embolus inside the blood vessel ora cerebral hemorrhage. In this way, therefore, we can identify the two types of the stroke, such as the ischemic and the hemorrhagic stroke. The final paper explains the process of thrombolysis, including the fibrinolytic therapy and the role of the nurse and/or the medical technician in the implementation of the intravenousthrombolysis in a patient with a stroke Ischemian etiology. In addition to being the key factor in the implementation of the entire thrombolysis procedure, as well as preparation of the patient for the thrombolysis procedure, the role of nurses and medical technicians also includes the primary and secondary prevention of the stroke. This is the reason why it is essential for nurses and medical technicians to have a broad and quality education, expertise and knowledge, particularly the practical knowledge of the different treatments of stroke, as well as emergency interventions in theevent of potential complications, especially during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in which it is very important to follow epidemiological measures (masks, gloves, hats, protective coat, visors foreyes and face, hand saute). |
