Abstract
Maslinarstvo je gospodarski vrlo značajna grana u Hrvatskoj čije su prednosti kvaliteta, dugogodišnja tradicija, autohtone sorte maslina te veliki potencijal za bavljenje ekološkom proizvodnjom. Na tržištu maslinovog ulja, koje je veoma složeno, primarni su ciljevi usmjereni na poboljšanje kvalitete proizvoda i poticanje maslinara na isporuku zadovoljstva potrošačima. Može se reći da je maslinovo ulje proizvedeno regionalno, ali se njime trguje na globalnoj razini, pri čemu je Europska Unija najveći proizvođač. Hrvatsko tržište maslinovog ulja obilježava nedovoljna razvijenost iako ima dobar potencijal za rast i razvoj maslinarske proizvodnje. Jedan od ciljeva ovog rada je analiza proizvodnje i potrošnje maslinovog ulja u Europskoj uniji i Hrvatskoj kao i vanjskotrgovinska razmjena Hrvatske. U radu se proučava i važnost oznake zaštite izvornosti i zemljopisnog podrijetla te marketinški aspekt maslinovog ulja.

Olive growing is a very important economic branch in Croatia with benefits such as quality, long tradition, an indigenous variety of olives and large potential for engaging in organic production. At olive oil market, which is very complex, the primary goals are focused on improving product quality and encouraging olive growers to meet their customers’ needs. Olive oil is produced regionally, but traded globally. European Union is the largest producer. Croatian olive oil market is characterized by underdevelopment although it has a great potential for growth and development of olive oil production. The aim of this paper is to analyze the production and consumption of olive oil in European Union and Croatia, as well as foreign trade of Croatia. This paper deals with the importance of geographical indication, indication of source and marketing aspect of olive oil.
