Abstract Pandemija koronavirusa (COVID 19) dovela je do velikih i iznenadnih promjena u cijelom svijetu, i samim time izazvala stres, zbog čega je možemo smatrati stresnim iskustvom za cijelu populaciju. Nakon doživljavanja takvih stresnih iskustava, neke osobe mogu doživjeti negativne posljedice kao što je PTSP, ali mogu iskusiti i pozitivnu psihološku promjenu, odnosno posttraumatski rast (PTR). I dok je PTSP dosta istraživan, ne postoje sustavna istraživanja PTR, pa je stoga cilj ovog istraživanja bio je na uzorku studenata ispitati posttraumatski rast nakon proglašenja globalne pandemije koronavirusa te validirati Upitnik posttraumatskog rasta – skraćenu formu (PTR-SF). Podaci su prikupljani kroz pet vremenskih točaka tijekom prvih nekoliko tjedana pandemije. U istraživanju je sudjelovao 361 student/ica u prvoj točki mjerenja, dok je 38 sudionika longitudinalno praćeno kako bi se dobile informacije o stabilnosti PTR-a. Za validaciju navedenog upitnika korištena je konfirmatorna faktorska analiza, kojom je potvrđeno pristajanje podataka petofaktorskom modelu. Osim toga, utvrđene su i zadovoljavajuće psihometrijske karakteristike istog. Ispitivanjem stabilnosti PTR-a tijekom vremena, dobivene su promjene u ukupnom rezultatu, te u faktorima Odnosi s drugima i Nove mogućnosti. Nadalje, u ovom istraživanju ispitivao se odnos PTR-a i strategija suočavanja sa stresom. Rezultati ukazuju na to da je PTR značajno povezan sa svim strategijama usmjerenima na problem, sa strategijom pozitivne reprocjene koja je usmjerena na emocije te sa strategijama izbjegavanja. Kako bismo saznali nešto više o relativnom doprinosu strategija suočavanja u objašnjenju varijance PTR-a, provedena je hijerarhijska regresijska analiza u koju su kao kontrolne varijable uvedene sociodemografske karakteristike spola i dobi. Rezultati pokazuju da je spol značajan prediktor PTR-a, odnosno da su djevojke sklonije doživljavanju pozitivne promjene, a od svih strategija suočavanja kao značajni prediktori pokazale su se strategije aktivnog suočavanja te upotrebe instrumentalne podrške, koji zajedno objašnjavanju 14% varijance PTR-a.
Abstract (english) The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has led to major and sudden changes around the world, and thus caused stress, which is why we can consider it a stressful experience for the entire population. After experiencing such stressful experiences, some people may experience negative consequences such as PTSD, but may also experience positive psychological change, or post-traumatic growth (PTG). While PTSD has been extensively researched, there are no systematic PTG studies, so the aim of this study was to examine posttraumatic growth in a sample of students following the declaration of a global coronavirus pandemic and to validate the Posttraumatic Growth Inventory – Short Form (PTGI-SF). Data were collected through five time points during the first few weeks of the pandemic. The study involved 361 students in the first measurement point, while 38 participants were monitored longitudinally to obtain information on the stability of PTG. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to validate this questionnaire, which confirmed the five-factor model. In addition, satisfactory psychometric characteristics were also determined. By examining the stability of PTG over time, changes were obtained in the overall score, and in the factors Relationships with Others and New Opportunities. Furthermore, this study examined the relationship between PTG and coping strategies. The results indicate that PTG is significantly associated with all problem-oriented strategies, with an emotional-focused positive reappraisal strategy, and with avoidance strategies. To learn more about the relative contribution of coping strategies in explaining PTG variance, a hierarchical regression analysis was conducted in which sociodemographic gender and age characteristics were introduced as control variables. The results showed that gender is a significant predictor of PTG, i.e. that girls are more prone to experience positive change, and of all coping strategies, active coping and the use of instrumental support proved to be significant predictors, which together explained 14% of PTG variance.
